Andrea Bianchi
I am a photographer from southern Italy, rooted in Lucania: one of the least populated and perhaps the most untamed regions in the country, where people still live close to nature in a way that feels rare in the rest of Italy. From the moment I picked up a camera, I knew this was the medium for me; there was something about expressing myself through images that felt immediately and completely natural. My work is an attempt to tell the story of a part of the country that is often forgotten, to document its quiet strength and extraordinary character. When I travel, I carry the same gaze: searching for that same kindness and resilience I first learned to see at home. I photograph whatever earns my attention: landscapes, animals, people, fleeting moments. Composition is something I think about deeply: I have a natural pull toward symmetry and balance, though I know when to let go of both. Some images demand colour; others only make sense in black and white. I let the subject decide.
