Andreas Horzella
Dr. Andreas Horzella, born on 16.11.1972 in Munich, is a German photographer and visual artist based in Munich/Germany and Bolzano/Italy. In his work, he explores the roots of human existence and its localization, as well as areas of tension between individuals, groups and nations. Concrete people usually recede into the background in favor of a focus on their traces in a world that is itself often depicted as empty, isolated and remote. In this context, the concept of “Non-Places” coined by Marc Augé and Foucault's “Heteropias” play an important role as starting points for dealing with the positioning of people in an inherently hostile environment. In addition to concrete topics such as big cities, people and nature, social conflicts or the artist's own past, the medium of the “image” itself is also questioned based on analog, digital and AI-supported working techniques.
