Iris Deklerck
My interest in photography began during childhood, when I started taking pictures with my father's camera while travelling. Capturing moments through a lens made me realise that photography is more than simply documenting reality. It is a way of preserving how we experience a place, a person, or a moment through our own eyes. At the age of 21, I bought my first camera and began experimenting, gradually developing my own photographic style. Over the years, there were periods when photography played a central role in my life and others when my camera remained untouched for months. In 2025, at the age of 30, I moved from Belgium to Sweden. This marked a turning point in my creative journey and inspired me to reconnect with photography. Exploring and photographing Scandinavia has renewed my passion for the medium and continues to shape the way I observe and engage with the world around me.
