jairo alvarez
Jairo Alvarez (b. 1990, Puan, Argentina) is a photographer and visual artist based in Copenhagen. His practice combines constructed photography, installation, and physical interventions on printed images to explore how memory, identity, and contemporary reality are shaped by social structures, rituals, and systems of representation. Working across staged imagery and handcrafted processes, Alvarez creates photographs that blur the boundaries between documentation and fiction, transforming images into physical objects and questioning their role in shaping personal and collective narratives. His work has been exhibited in Tokyo, Berlin, Budapest, Buenos Aires, and Copenhagen, and presented at the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok. His work has been published in PhotoVogue, and he has participated in international residencies at La Napoule Art Foundation and the Swatch Art Peace Hotel.
