Emerging Berlin is a local Open Call dedicated to supporting and showcasing image-makers with a distinctive visual language, whose photographic practice embodies, represents, and shapes a part of Berlin.
An emerging artist in this context is a photographer or image-maker whose work has not yet been presented in an exhibition within an institutional museum, but who has already developed a recognizable visual language. Emerging artists are at a point in their creative journey where professional support, visibility, and exchange can meaningfully contribute to their further development.
The definition is not tied to age, years of experience, or formal education and includes artists who are self-taught, professionally trained, or working outside traditional pathways.
