Emerging Global - Open Call | Fotografiska Emerging

What does a more conscious world mean to you?

For our first Emerging Global group exhibition, we are looking for photographic projects from around the world that explore what it means to live with greater awareness: of ourselves, of one another, of the systems we are part of, and of our relationship with our planet.

We are seeking honest, raw, and courageous work that connects personal experiences with wider social and political realities. We welcome projects that question familiar structures, make overlooked realities visible, or imagine alternative ways of living.

Possible themes include, but are not limited to:

Climate change and its consequences
Nature and our relationship with the environment
Inequality, political realities, and threats to human rights
Consumption, capitalism, waste, and exploitation
Technology, data, and the transformation of our lives
Community, care, resistance, and collective action
Alternative, speculative, or utopian visions of the future
Social structures, cultural norms, and changing ways of living together
Identity, self-awareness, and belonging

This group exhibition is intended to bring together projects that feel urgent and make the viewer think. The works should be grounded in lived experience or shaped by a distinct artistic perspective. Documentary, conceptual, staged, archival, and experimental approaches are all welcome.

This inaugural group exhibition will open at Fotografiska Berlin in February 2027.

Eligible

Focus on photographic, concept-driven series, but time- and prompt-based approaches can also be submitted.

Participation in the first Emerging Global group exhibition, presented at Fotografiska Berlin in early 2027
Production and associated costs of the selected artworks covered and organized by Fotografiska
Artist fee of €500

About Emerging Global

Emerging Global is Fotografiska Emerging’s recurring international group exhibition, connecting the initiative’s global open-call platform with Fotografiska’s museum program. Each edition invites photographers and visual artists worldwide to respond to a new question, with selected works brought together in an exhibition curated by a local Fotografiska curatorial team. The exhibition rotates between Fotografiska museums, creating a new constellation of artists, perspectives and ideas with every edition.

Submission Guidelines

Please submit:

A header image, project title and short summary, plus a PDF including at least 8 images from one series, a project description and artist CV. Time-based work can be represented through screenshots.

Selected artists must be able to provide high-resolution print files, hold all necessary image rights, accept the Terms & Conditions.
