Monia Marchionni (Italy) is a visual artist who uses photography to reinterpret reality in an emotional and symbolic way. Her practice combines staged photography with direct interventions on the photographic print, creating images that are colorful, dreamlike, and visionary. Her work explores narratives in which the real dimension intertwines with the inner one, constructing a poetic and surreal imaginary. Her gaze is directed toward people, the environment, and cities, understood as mental spaces shaped by those who inhabit them. The human figure often becomes an archetype, a narrative alter ego; she is the recipient of numerous international awards, including IPA Special Photographer of the Year 2025, Sarajevo Photo Festival, Independent Photographer, Life Framer, and the Lucie Awards. Her work has been exhibited in Italy and internationally—in Europe, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Australia, and Japan. She lives and works in the Marche region, Italy.
