Pierre François D
Pierre François is a self-taught photographer with an interest in documentary, travel and street photography. His photographic practice is based on observation, on allowing himself to be guided by curiosity, and on attempting to give visual meaning to what presents itself before his eyes. It is an exploration that draws on the photographer’s inner states: in this sense, the images, whilst resulting from the observation of the world, also echo feelings, emotions and thoughts. The images may, on occasion, have a touch of gentle irony. His practice consists of non-judgemental observation, as the photographs are taken from a position of respect and a certain empathy. He writes the newsletter Tales of Ink and Light (www.talesofinkandlight.net). His projects often combine the languages of words (ink) and images (light) to tell stories about the strange world we live in.
