Mazu's birthday takes place on the 23rd day of the third lunar month, every year. Beigang township, in Yunlin county, Taiwan, boasts one of the most important temples dedicated to the deity of the sea, in the country: Chaotian Temple. This shot has been taken last April, during the celebrations for the goddess's birthday. A girl is looking down from one of the parade floats (yìgé), her heavily made up face catching a brief glimpse of the crowd, in-between the fingers of a raving worshiper.
