Watching out over the golden light left by a tiny sandstorm, Mary Kiden is standing at her family’s plot in Bidibidi refugee camp, Uganda. South Sudan’s civil war has displaced over two million people. When families fled to Uganda, they carried their belongings wrapped in milayas—hand-embroidered bedsheets passed down through generations. Now their stitches can be seen on prints of their images. Embroidered with traditional technique by Charity Yangi @milayaproject in Bidibidi.
