Aino Väänänen

A self-portrait made on Hailuoto, an island in the North of Finland, during a time of Aurora Borealis. The image belongs to In Shallow Waters I Walked, a project in which I explored the interplay between the island and its inhabitants - human and non-human - and questioned how we position ourselves within the environments we live in.
