A photo of the inhabitant of this abandoned house, located on a former colonian slave-plantation in the inland of Suriname. I felt spiritually drawn to this site because of the condition of the house, while the photograph itself remained remarkably intact. After speaking with some of the inhabitants of the plantation, they told me that the house once belonged to my great-great-grandmother. A closer inspection revealed that the home had not been livable for many years, something that is often common in these areas. Many families leave the plantation in search of work opportunities in the bigger cities. Or they pass away only living in the plantation for decades.
