When They See Us is an ongoing photographic series begun in Bamako in 2023. It focuses on girls and young women photographed in their everyday environments, domestic, social, and urban. When They See Us is an immersion in states of presence, those moments when a subject inhabits their image without fully submitting to the gaze that produces it.
