The photograph was taken in Alter do Chão, in the Brazilian Amazon, as part of the series “Na hora do sol raiá”, a phrase that means “when the sun rises”, pronounced with the distinctive accent of rural Brazil. The series explores intimacy through the contrast between the body and the shadows that surround it.
