“Last visit” captures Mary, her daughter and granddaughter during their final visit. Mary was diagnosed with metastatic cancer following a breast cancer diagnosis ten years earlier. Knowing she would soon be unable to travel due to being in her final months, she invited me into their home to photograph them one last time in the way she wanted to be remembered. This image is a reflection of how we traverse love, care and loss across borders and the ways the maternal experience extends into the intimate spaces of ageing and mortality. It is a testament to the enduring bonds between mothers and children and a reflection on how we hold one another across distance, time and the profound moments of vulnerability that define life.
