Diana Muminova

My experimental interpretation of Lillian Bassman’s work, translating her restrained black-and-white language into both the genre of still life and colour. The figures of her models remind me of church candles: elongated, graceful, almost sacred. Through colour and distortion, I explore women’s creative energy and inner freedom, allowing aggression and anger to enter the image - emotions I no longer want to hide.
