Between Worlds This image depicts the hand of an incarcerated man who leaves prison temporarily to work as a cleaner and general worker in a 1890’s cemetery in a country Brazilian town. His gradual return to society takes place among graves, memories and traces of those who are no longer here. The hand becomes a threshold between confinement and freedom, absence and presence, death and the possibility of beginning again—an image about alterity, dignity and the fragile reconstruction
