I shot this image during my return to India, a place I come from but never fully felt held by. Growing up as part of a minority identity, I often felt just outside what surrounded me, trying to belong in ways that never came naturally. In this moment, I find myself in quiet exchange with the woman looking back at me, both of us occupying the same space while carrying different distances within it. For me, it reflects a kind of coexistence in society that is not seamless or easy, yet continues to shape how belonging is lived.
