Detail of the House of Slaves (Maison des Esclaves) at the Goree Islands. This poignant memorial honours the victims of the Atlantic slave trade. While the exact number of slaves who passed through the "Door of No Return" remains unknown, many were transported to South America, including Bolivia. Descendants of Uchicho, a Senegalese prince enslaved at the time, now form the Afro-Bolivian Royal House, a recognised monarchy in the country.
