Ben Battersby
Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Born in London UK, he spent over thirty years working as a DOP, crafting visual narratives for film, television, and commercials across continents. In 2021, a stage IV cancer diagnosis ended his cinematography career. Treatment, surgery, and uncertainty replaced the film sets he had called home. In 2024, when the immediate danger passed, he began making still photographs—not as testimony, but as a way to move through what had happened. Recognition includes Gold and 2nd Place at PX3 Paris, Silver at the NYC Photography Awards, Bronze and People's Choice distinctions at the 1839 Photography Awards, and inclusion in the Worlds in View exhibition at Profifoto during Arles 2026 Pro Photo Week. Battersby's practice centres on staged, constructed images that draw on cinematic language to explore place, belonging, memory, and transition. He believes in photography not as spectacle, but as intimacy, truth, and generosity.
