Bio

Stefan Thelemann is a Berlin-based photographer and professional musician whose practice is rooted in close observation of people in public spaces. Drawing on decades of experience reading a room — whether a concert hall or a city street — he brings a musician's sensitivity to timing, atmosphere, and the unspoken. His current series Seen / Unseen was made in the great museums of Paris — the Musée d'Orsay, the Petit Palais, the Louvre. Standing among the art and the atmosphere, he found himself watching not only the works themselves, but also the people watching them. Or not watching them.

He's not performing for the palace. The palace just happens to be there. Somewhere between the sequencer and the guitar
