WALL KURT

ApprovedheTogoTogophmuseum.com

Wall Kurt (Kokou Claude Gbeve) is a Togolese-Ghanaian visual artist and filmmaker. His work, marked by remarkable formal restraint, explores the silent dignity of the African artist confronted with exploitation, intra-African migration, and the spiritual quest. Based in Lomé, his practice revolves around the dynamics of perception and is rooted in Ewe cosmology, West African cultural geography, and a long-standing commitment to community life and the power, resistance, and identity that this relationship generates. His photographs have been published in Der Greif (Germany) and Vogue Italia PhotoVogue, and he received the PICHA 2026 grant. His first feature film, Le 15, currently in development, follows a young Togolese photographer through four West African countries in search of a place where he can fully flourish, and When They See Us, an investigation into the regulation of the gaze directed at young women in Mali.
