This photo captures the minimalist harmony of urban architecture through a precise balance of color, form and light. Three small red balconies emerge rhythmically from a white-tiled façade, theri geometric regularity accentuated by the long, soft shsadows cast againnts the wall. The pale blue sky provides a serene backdrop, amplifying the clarity and calmness of the composition. The image distills a moment of quiet order within the city.
I took this photo in Cascais, Portugal on my birthday. It was my first solo trip abroad. I had one goal for the trip, which was to always have the camera in my hand. I managed to capture many great memories during that trip, but this one stands out because through the camera I got to experience the culture and the people in a completely unfiltered and up-close way. I was especially pleased with the composition and the hand gesture, which I think conveys the story in a nice way.
"Prayer Hands" A photo from my series "Guadalupe", which reflects on my relationship with Mexico’s patron saint, Our Lady of Guadalupe. My image reimagines Albrecht Dürer’s "Study of the Hands of an Apostle" through the lens of a Chicana who grew up in the Catholic Church and longed to see more diverse representation in religious iconography.
Michelle Colon, Amputee survivor with an acquired limb difference This photo is from my portrait series, Altered: Redefining Beauty, which highlights and celebrates individuals living with bodies altered either by choice or by unforeseen life changing experiences.
